The Families Commission Act (2003) asks us to be cognisant of the needs, values and beliefs of Māori as tangata whenua.
The Chief Executive, Paul Curry, is appointed by the Board. He is responsible for the operational management of the Commission.
The Commission is governed by a board of commissioners who are appointed by the Minister for Social Development. Each appointment is for up to three years with the potential for reappointment. Commissioners work for up to 100 days per year.
